A few weeks ago I grumped about how Apple messed up creating wallpapers for IOS 7 because of their new Parallax motion. I was honestly hoping someone would point me to a technique I missed to solve the problem, but what I got back was mostly grumpy agreement and requests for more info.
I’ve been looking into this on and off since, and I ran into this post at fiftyfootshadows talking about the subject. His experimentation indicates the optimal sizing of an image for iPad wallpapers is 2524×2524, and for iPhone 5 is 744x1392px. Those numbers are what Apple is using for their own images, and that seems to be the “right” answer, at least for now.
So I’ll be adjusting and republishing my wallpapers to match. Real Soon Now…
